Stem cells in medical therapies

Stem cells are biological cells that can be divided through mitosis, differentiated into diverse specialized cell types, or be self-renewed to produce more stem cells.

The adult stem cells can be taken from a variety of sources for safe use, including umbilical cord blood at a birth, and bone marrow or fat if to be taken from an adult.

Stem cells act as a repair system for the body, replenished in adult tissues; and can be used to treat a wide variety of diseases including leukemia, cancer, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, and muscle damage--all of which were once thought to be impossible to cure.
